Old World Demons

Briefing--
In all honesty, we're not sure what we're dealing with here. I was tasked with neutralizing a Nazi facility in South America for fear that they were developing some sort of weapons. It became apparent later that weapons were not their intention and they were, in fact, there looking for something of supernatural origins. While our government doesn't believe in such ghost stories, I've been presented with evidence that something unnatural is going on down there in the jungle. Your primary objective is to stay alive, regardless of the mission. If we are dealing with some demonic powers, I want to know about it from you, in person.
The official mission here is to get in and neutralize the facility. Blow it up, cut it off, I leave the nitty-gritty in your competent hands.
Also, because of the lack of volunteers, we've also opened this unit to women, should they wish to risk their lives for our great country.
Your flight leaves in twenty-four hours, don't be late.

DISMISSED.

AS I MENTIONED IN THE SIGN UP THREAD: For your first post, please proceed to the interview with Gen. Mackery and write it out however you see fit. This initial post will set your character's personality and how they interact with others, so put some effort into it please. Go over the things you think a general would ask you if you volunteered for a suicide mission.

"So, mister..." The man's voice trailed off as he gazed at the paperwork on his desk. The room was lit only by a single lamp on the massive paper strewn oak desk, behind which sat the general, a gray haired old man with a traditional PI stache and jarhead haircut. On the walls I could make out framed awards and photos from his many deployments, along with several bookcases stacked with who knows what kind of documents. Behind him was a massive bay window looking out on the lake next to which the facility was built.

"LC Misty," I finished for him, taking a seat before his expansive desk, the cushy chair sucking me into it's folds, almost like a recliner.

"Right, Oswald," He mumbled, flipping through the papers.

"With all respect sir, my full name is classified," I said, drawing a sigh from the man.

"I understand that you're part of the elite Slamanders, but I don't think that much secrecy is needed here," He responded tiredly, "Regardless, LC Misty, why are you taking on this mission of your own volition? You've got a strong career going in the coast guard, why take on a risky Navy mission?"

"My team was recently killed in missions around Nazi Germany and I am currently waiting in limbo for my superiors to train their replacements. They gave me the option to wait or to assist other divisions in their missions. I feel keeping myself busy is the best way to reconcile the loss," I explained, tapping my foot on the floor.

"While emotional distress is a serious issue, I understand the want to keep busy, but this mission?" He pushed further, finally making eye contact with me.

"The supernatural stories surrounding this mission are what drew me to it. When my team was investigating experimentation facilities around Germany, we saw evidence that Hitler isn't completely mad," I elaborated, "I want to see more, and I want to put a stop to it,"

"Very well, and you've seen a shrink, cleared for duty, yes?" He carried on without breaking pace.

"I have, sir," I responded with a curt nod.

"Very well, soldier, make your way to the barracks, we've dedicated the east wing to your squad, your squadmates will be joining you there shortly to become acquainted before you take off," He said, tossing a folder to the other side of his desk, "Dismissed,"

I stepped into the office and looked around. It was, nice if a tad dark. The man himself was typical American military in appearance. He looked up from his paperwork as I walked in, but didn't move from the position of leafing the papers.

"Come in, mister..." He said glancing down at his papers.

"Captain Malikov Vladimirovich," I said finishing the question as I sat in an expensive looking chair that was soft like a bed. I looked down at the seat, clicking my tongue before looking back to the man. The man raised an eyebrow at the name and let go of the page he was holding as he leaned back in his chair.'

"Russian? Don't often find people like you in the military. Are you from Russia or immigrated."

"From," I said calmly. I knew what the Americans thought of my country and its people, and what they had done to their own people who shared the same or similar views. The man raised another eyebrow at my answer and leaned forward propping his elbows on his desk and he laced his fingers together.

"Are you a spy son?"

"Yes, in a way. I'm a member of the People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs. We caught wind of the mission prior to this and I was sent to investigate and find out where the united States stands in regards to Germany."

The man scoffed at my words, his face going cold. "Stupid move for a spy to announce who he is."

A smile graced my lips, a calm calculating smile. "General, Germany is a threat to my country and my people, as they are to the rest of Europe and even America. I know you are looking for volunteers for this missions, and that you fear whatever the Nazi's are doing. I was sent by my people to secure any chance against Germany, so for this instance, the interests and, curiosity, of the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics are in alignment."

The room fell quiet after that. The man didn't move from his position, his face unreadable. I sat calmly in the cushy, capitalist, chair, watching the General, but as well planning how to escape from this room and this facility if need be.

"You're bold, I'll give you that." the General said leaning back in his chair. "You're on the mission. But I'm going to have my men keep on eye on you."

"I would think you capitalist AND foolish if you didn't," I replied.

"Make your way to the barracks, we've dedicated the east wing to your squad, your squadmates will be joining you there shortly to become acquainted before you take off," the general said closing the folder, without taking his eyes off of me. "Dismissed,"
